Skincare can feel confusing, frustrating, and overwhelming at times, but you don’t have to navigate this lifelong journey alone—Curology is here to help.
Since our founding in 2014, Curology has made prescription skincare accessible for millions of patients, thanks to our team of over 100 physicians, nurse practitioners, and physician assistants. Every licensed dermatology provider uses their extensive medical knowledge to design a roadmap for their patients—using each individual’s specific concerns and personal history to chart a plan to help them meet their goals.
While practicing dermatology in New Mexico, Dr. David Lortscher noticed many of his patients were struggling to get access to quality dermatology care. From health insurance issues and dermatology deserts (an area of land where there are little to no dermatologists available for appointments) to useless acne products and prescription ingredient confusion, patients were coming to him completely exhausted in their search for clear skin. David wanted to make effective, custom skincare more attainable for everyone—even those who may not have easy access to his personal services.
With help from his tech-savvy brother, Glenn, and their mom, fellow dermatologist Dr. Nancy Satur, David founded Curology in 2014. Together, this dermatological family built and expanded Curology to become a cutting-edge telemedicine company that helps transform the way patients access clinically-proven and prescription skincare.

Of course, what really sets Curology apart is our team of licensed dermatology providers—made up of medical doctors, doctors of osteopathic medicine, physician assistants, and nurse practitioners—who offer a personalized skincare experience.
Whether you’re tackling acne, rosacea, hyperpigmentation, or signs of aging, our dermatology providers use the selfies and questionnaire results (which take into account your medical history) gathered during your consultation to properly assess your skin.
After your assessment, your provider prescribes a custom mix with three clinically-proven, active ingredients to help tackle your specific skin concerns—a compound therapy treatment approach that David first used in his own dermatology practice to help his patients get incredible results.
At Curology, we use only dermatologist-approved ingredients in our products—some of which are only available by prescription, like tretinoin (the vitamin A derivative that’s an acne fighting and anti-aging hero), azelaic acid (another acne-buster), and clindamycin (a topical antibiotic that targets bacteria). Because we use multiple active ingredients, Curology’s personalized formulas are able to target different contributors to your skin concerns at once—helping you successfully work toward your skin goals.
But Curology isn’t just one product—it’s an entire skincare service.
This means that your licensed dermatology provider isn’t just there to prescribe oral medications or update your personalized formula as your skin evolves. They’re also there to answer any skin-related questions (yes, that can include what shampoo to use or what to pack in your beach bag), suggest new products, and generally support you through any bumps, blemishes, or breakouts.
We believe everyone should have access to a dermatology provider they can trust. That’s why Curology is committed to providing thorough, educated, and equitable dermatology services to all people, including people of color, transgender patients, and historically marginalized communities.
We’re working hard to make skincare more accessible. Through the Curology Access Program, we provide a credit of up to $485 to 200 teenagers of families who qualify for the National School Lunch Program, or young adults, age 25 and under, who provide documentation of financial need, every month. Individuals may apply on Curology’s website.
We also understand it can be especially challenging to find a provider who understands your needs if you’re part of an underrepresented community, which is why Diversity, Equity, Inclusion & Belonging is an essential part of how Curology operates. We work hard to make sure our provider team is diverse, which helps us provide patients with equitable and empathetic quality care.
At Curology, we’re here to guide you on your skincare journey—helping you achieve your personal skin goals, while providing support for whatever pops up along the way.
