Hi Jeremiah. How long have you been using Curology? I think since 2020 or 2019. How did you find out about Curology? An online ad and I started looking into it and researching it from there. The way that you guys make a custom solution [formula] and then you have all the supplementary products, that was really appealing. What were you using before Curology? Yeah, I'd just say they were all off the shelf, kind of the essential everyday brands…but obviously it wasn't really working out for me. What was your acne like before you started using Curology? It was all the just regular pimples that you deal with, a lot of blackheads and then just the sort of reddish look blotched over everything as well. The blackheads would not go away and they turned into whiteheads and it’s just miserable. That did end up leaving a little bit of acne scarring, but over time that’s been healing, which has been really good.
Did you have one moment where you realized the effect that acne was having on your life? I would say a lot of days were like that. You wake up and one of the first things you see is your face in the mirror. You're like, okay, great, everyone else gets to see this too. That was a huge confidence killer and if people for whatever reason didn't want to talk to me, I would get it. I'm like, I don't want to look at myself in the mirror. So I had a lot of sympathy for anybody who would've been put off by how I looked, but I'd say most days were kind of like that. That's just something you had to push into the back of your head and not really think about, try to go through your day, but especially if you're like, I have an interview today or I want to talk to somebody important today, and boom, now I've got three little pimples that are just saying hi in the morning and I did not invite them, but they're there and now they're stuck with me for the next 48, 72 hours. So a lot of days were like that. What was your experience of signing up for Curology like? The simplicity of it all was really astounding because you just answer a couple of questions. Basic questions that make sense, what type of acne you’re dealing with, what skin conditions you’re dealing with. Answer the questions and then it's filling out your address and your billing information and as soon as they put the formula together it's done. A pretty fast and painless experience. What’s your routine? In the evening it's applying the formula, that's when they say I should apply it. So I do. If I feel like my skin is dry, I apply the moisturizer and I've got two, the one that's more intense [Barrier Balm]] and then the other one that's the traditional moisturizer [Cream Moisturizer]. If I'm going out, then [I put on] The Sunscreen if I have to be in the sun for a while. In the mornings, [I apply] the Vitamin C [serum], that stuff goes on and all of that is always after a hot rinse and then cold rinse, dry off and then apply products. Do you have any experiences where you realized Curology was actually working? The days when [I] just got a fresh cut and the braces were off and my skin is clear, those are definitely the days when you look in the mirror and you're like, I can't ask for more than this. This is exactly what I want. That's a huge confidence booster. I think being in sales, people will buy from a lot of people who look a lot of different ways…how you present yourself [and feeling] confident in how you look is huge. Do you talk often with friends and family about your skin journey and Curology? Yeah, absolutely. They know what the difference [in my acne] is and it's tough because sometimes you wonder, is this something that they don't want to talk about? Is this something they're very self-conscious about? Will me just broaching the topic even though I'm excited about it ruin their day? I don't want to do that. But. if it ever comes up and someone's like, look, I don't feel comfortable, I want to figure this [my skin concerns] out…my go-to is like, look, I've done Curology, [it] worked wonders for me. What advice would you have for yourself five years ago based on your experience today? I would just tell myself it's going to take a little bit of discipline for 10 minutes out of the day max. It's going to take a little bit of patience as things keep going and keep improving. You just got to trust that it's going to work. Yeah, if you don't put the work in, it's not going to work. It's like any other treatment or medical solution otherwise. If you're not taking the prescription as it were, then it's not going to have the effect. So just a quick encouragement to myself is like, you're going to be okay in the end. You got this, it's just going to take a little bit of time out of your day and it's going to take a little bit of time in the long run, but it's going to get better. So I would just give a quick encouragement. I don't think I'd have too much more to say to him. Is there one word or a brief thought about what you're most proud of in your skin journey? I would say you are going to feel healthy or I just say health is the word, because being physically healthy is super important to me… As a kid, I struggled with eczema a lot as well, and that wasn't on my face—but hands, joints, things like that. You feel healthy, but you don't look healthy. When your skin doesn't look healthy, even at a basic biological level, that doesn't give off good science. To know that the way that I look mirrors the way that I feel and am on the inside is super important. So I know it's a lot more than a sentence, but that's what goes through my mind when I think of health because it's not just about appearance, it's also about who you truly are. To have my appearance finally reflect that, that feels amazing.
